Have an IP Office 4.2 that has several satellite office with IP stations (no switch). The central site has a 406v2 4.2 213 and a PRI from One Communications. All the remote offices have IP sets. Looking for a solution for outbound 911 calls. Can the e911 be enabled somehow to assist with issue? For a CM install that I did recently we used a multi-tech mvp to backhaul a dialtone from the remote site to the core switch.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Worried some of these offices aren't in the greatest neighborhoods.

You could set up a database with OneComm and have them send different stations to different 911 centers. i think it is called PSALI or something like that. we have done it with verizon and SIP trunks and it worked great. we tag caller ID on 911 calls from stations and it uses that caller ID to send to the right 911 center.

Kevin is absolutely correct on this. The specific numbers need to be adjusted in the ALI database to reflect the correct street address of the call. This is refereed to as PS-ALI in some cases.

Make sure you completely understand any solution you put in, and take into consideration user mobility around the network and readjusting the 911 reporting number (ELIN) or the ALI database.

If you have minimal mobility, then you can implement a process of change control and manual updates to the required databases. If you have many moves the will affect the E911 reporting, then you are going to probably want to look at an automated solution.

An additional option is to send your 911 calls to a special provider designed to handle 911 traffic. These are called VPC's (VoIP Positioning Center) and can connect you to any 911 PSAP in the country, but again, you need to coordinate location with them.

That's because I was the Nortel 911 PLM for the past 4 years or so prior to the aquisition last year.

I probably should have Dave change it over here if he can. Glad to be of some help!
