Hi Guys.

Here's our setup.

We are running ArcServe BrightStor.

The tape is setup to do a Full Backup of the entire File Server and the Exchange Server (2003) Database every night.

We restarted all servers last week to apply security patches, and ever since all backup results are saying "Failed"

Looking further into the logs, it appears that all the files are still being backed up, and that only ONE error / failure is occuring..

The Code is as follows

E8610 Failed to get database information (EC=dbaexchsrs)

Now looking at this i can tell it's an error related to the exchange backup...

I'm kinda at a loss for what to look for here..

Can anyone give me some ideas?...And why would the entire backup say failed if i can see the files and the instance of the tape does pick up in the media pool?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Put the Exchange Agent into debug, reproduce the problem, and check the log. The FAQ section of this forum has a doc on how to enable debug.

Found a solution, from the ArcServe tech support people.

The Exchange SRS Service didnt start on the Exchange server, and the the job was looking for it.

I've just restarted the service and i'll see what happens with tonight's backup.
