E8004 Media Manually Inserted

Hi,

I have this Compaq MSL5000 with 2 drives and 29 slots.
Brightstor 10.5, SP 1.
At doing an inventory of all slots, I receive an error E8004 &quot;Media Manually Inserted in Drive&quot;, while the slot appears in Device Manager as p.e. Slot 6: <updating>, without any action. Sometimes I get Slot 6: <empty> while it´s not.

When I do a backup using the tapes in these particular slots I get errors like E6300 Windows NT SCSI Port Error.

Strange thing is, that each time I do an inventory, the E8004 and &quot;<updating>&quot; appears randomely in other slots.

Anyone has an idea? Please help me out here?

Sounds like a software conflict. Get rid of tape device drive and media changer drivers faq478-3987. Removable Storage service, configure HP/Compaq Management Storage clients to remove SCSI Information under properties.
