I've read several forums about this error but no help has worked thus far. My client is using NT 4 and Arcserve 6.5. I've tried all patches but still get error when trying to restore data from tape. I can see the sessions on the tape and even the individual files, but when go to restore from session 2 it gives me a can't find session error. I can restore session 1 fine but not any of the others. I've tried every solution I've read to include updating the firmware of the Compaq SDT-9000 DAT drive.

Ideas?

Two possibilities:
1) database corruption
2) restore/backup problem

Do a Restore By Media and select session # 2. If that works then it is a database problem. If it fails then there is either a restore or backup problem.

Take the tape to any other ARCserve server as long as it is the same version or later and Merge and Restore.

Do a new backup with Verify Compare Tape To Disk to see if the backups are any good at all.

If verify is not used there is no way to know if the backup is any good.
