Is there any way to use an external SMTP server with Exchange 2K?

I'm having some trouble with my ISP's DNS servers, and therefor my Mail server can not find any domains outside of my ISP's network.
Now this causes trouble for the users of my network, so that when they send an E-mail it just sits in the que, and then after the message expires they get an undeliverable message.
I know the error is related to the fact that my ISP is having DNS troubles, because it started at the same time.

But i figured since I'm able to send mails by connecting directly to my ISP's Mail server, if I could make Exchange do the same, so basically skip the step of trying to forward the mail by it self, it would forward it to my ISP's Mail server that could then deliver it.

I hope I have explaind my self good enough. If not let me know and I will try to explain.
