We just got a new W2k server and installed Exchange 2000 on it. We would like to move all of our users to the new server. The first (test) mailbox we moved was able to send email, but could not receive email (internally or from Internet).
How do we migrate to the new Exchange server?

Thanks

You title says that you're going from one E2K server to another, is this correct or is it a 5.5 migration? If you're going from E2K to E2K, that's pretty simple. In fact, I just did it this weekend. Below are some links that you'll find useful.

Moving mailboxes:
[LN];q328810

Removing the first E2K server from the site (assuming that you are disconnecting your original server):
[LN];q307917

Rehoming public folders:
[LN];q288150

Instructions on using Exmerge.exe (for making .PST files from mailboxes before you move them in case corruption occurs):
[LN];q174197

And here's a nice, general, non-Microsoft checklist that was also helpful:

Now, with your specific problem, how long after the move were you trying to receive mail? There is a bit of a lag for replication to occur, times will vary widely with the size of your organiation and network design. Is it working correctly now?

Yes we are adding another Exchange 2000 server.
We created a new account in Active Directory and homed that mailbox to the new server. That test account is able to SEND mail, but cannot receive mail (internally nor from Internet). Message tracking shows that email sent to this new test account is stopping in the "categorizer".
Any ideas?

TLS protocol was required on the original server. We unchecked that one box and now everything works fine.
