Several of the computers in the plant started loosing there connection to the network and it seems they are receiving the following error in the their event viewers (WinXP):Adapter Intel(R) PRO/100 VE Network Connection: Did not receive auto-negotiation advertisement from link partner. A full duplex connection may be available. Can anyone tell me what this error means and what I can do to solve the problem? Both of these users are on different hubs in the plant. Up to this day, we haven't experienced this problem. I haven't been able to find much about this particular error.

Thanks!

I suspect this is just a warning, rather than a fatal error.

Modern NICs all default to auto negotiate, as do all modern switches. Hubs are all Half Duplex. Older switches may be Full duplex, but not bright enough to auto negoitiate.

Your NICs are not seeing the autonegotiate protocol as they start up, so defaulting to Half duplex. I suspect you are getting a warning that if Full Duplex is available, you need to set it by hand.

I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.

I have noticed that both of the computer receiving this error ar losing their connection to the network every so often. This wouldn't be causing this error?

Thanks so much for replying!
