Hi,
I have a 3620 Router with an E1 Card, I'd like to use fractional E1 so that 512K of the Link is used for a connection to the ISP and the other 8 timeslots/channels are used for voice/fax. Is this possible and what would be the configuration?
Many thanks
Paul

Paulk,

Depending on what your future plans are for the 512k data you could...

Place a "Mux" in front of the router and break out 512k to the router on one port and the remaining to another port for voice equipment (pbx).

the 512k data could be left as a F/R link with your standard E1 module or if you wanted to use HDLC and have multiple sites within that 512k stream you would need to look at an E1 channelized module.

My suggestion:

Get a mux like Newbridge to go between the router and telco DMARK. Configure the MUX for channels 1-8 to go to the router for your 512k circuit. The rest of the channels could then be configured to connect to your voice equipment like the pbx.
