E-mailing document from Word

I am getting this error when I have a document in word and I try to e-mail from with-in Word using the e-mail icon on the standard tool bar:

word could not load the e-mail envelope. this could be caused by a network problem or a problem with your office.

O/S 2000 PRO SP4, all updates current. Outlook 2003 is installed on the machine using a mail server with word xp. I unstalled word and then installed it with no luck. It seems to do with the update for office 2003. Any Ideas?
