On PRIMARY ISDN the "signaling" term "may be" referred to as protocol which can be CO switch specific. The choices are typically NI-1, NI-2, and AT&T CUSTOM. The differences have to do with features and options provided by both customer equipment and CO switch. But the above posts do apply. I believe that NI-1 and AT&T CUSTOM do not support CID-NAME, NI-2 does support CID-NAME. There may be other items also, but I don't have that information available at this time.
The term "signaling" really should not be used with PRI at all. If your service provider is using it that way, they are wrong to use it! That is why you are confused, but this is the place to get UNconfused!
