Ok, I've been seeting up a DNS server...

W2K sp4, active directory DHCP, and DNS

DNS now works, its been a struggle [lol]

When a different IP address is assigned to a computer by DHCP, the DNS forward and lookup zones update as expected. This shows Dynamic updates are working.

However, I have a print server which picks up an IP address from the DHCP server. I have had to add a host and ptr record to the forward and reverse lookups (respectively). When a different IP is assigned to the print server, neither record (forward or reverse) is updated. Does any one have an idea why?

Thanks for reading!

I have solved the problem,

I hadn't checked the "Enable updates for DNS clients that do not support dynamic updates"
