I am not able to insert pictures in crystal reports dynamically .
I am calling crystal report from Visual basic and the photographs are stored in windows explorer in .bmp format.
Backend is sql server.
Its like that for every unique number stored in a table in sql I have got cooresponding pics in windows explorer. I have to display them in reports.
I Tried CR Viewer but was unable to connect it with Sql. It works with access but not with Sql.

Crystal doesn't support this feature. You can only do this if the images are in BLOB field in a table. Ken Hamady

Any image from word can be cut and pasted straight into crystal. The only snag is that the image is fixed for the report.

I'm fairly sure the image can also be linked as an ActiveX object and will therefore be updated when the report is viewed depending on the contents of that document.

If you require a choice of images then you should be able to superimpose these images and suppress accordingly.

I suppose you could do that if every image existed before the report was created, and none were added later. You would have to put every image onto the report and give each one a separate suppress condition.

It would work, but I am not sure I would consider that dynamic. Ken Hamady

Thanks for replying. But this will not solve my problem as I have to display pictures dynamically.
kenhamady I was able to display the pics dynamically stored in windows explorer. with the the help of crystal report viewer. But there the backend was access whn I try with SQL it gives the error server not opened.

You need a Login command to open the server within the application. Depending on your integration method it would be something like: LogonServer, SetLogonInfo, or Connect. Ken Hamady

I have used the connect property. But still it is not solving the purpose.

remember that CR has 4 different sets of syntax. Are you sure that you are using the correct one? Does the same syntax work for any other report? Ken Hamady
