I'm having trouble getting the Dynamics tab of the report writer to work. I have a text box that I'd like to show up in bold when a certain condition is met.

I name the condition "range1", and for "Apply when condition is true" I've inserted .T. (for testing). I change "Font" from "Ariel, 8, N" to "Ariel, 8, B". I then save it, but when I run the report the field is not bold.

What am I missing?

Jim

Jim,

You need two fields, one on top of the other. Set one to bold, and the other to non-bold. In the Print When of each field, place the relevant condition.

However, we might not be talking about the same thing. What do you mean by the "dynamic" tab? And how do you "name" a condition?

Mike

Hi Mike,

We are talking about the same thing, and I know very well the 2-field solution you suggest, but it's supposed to be easier now. Open the properties window for any textbox on a VFP9 report and you'll see a "Dynamics" tab. Check it out.

I just can't get it to work.

I must be going daft. I can't see any "Dynamics" tab. (Actually, I can't even see a "textbox", but perhaps you meant a report field.)

In the properties window for a report field, I can only see these tabs: General, Style, Format, Print When, Calculate, Protection and Other.

I still have VFP 9 SP1. Is this something new in SP2?

Mike

Yes, report field, and yes, I have SP2.

You list 7 tabs. My version has 9, your 7 plus Dynamics and Advanced. (The Advanced tab has the "Object Rotation" feature that also isn't working for me.)

Jim

Mike,

I believe it is a SP2 feature.

And for the record, I tried to use it once, couldn't get it to work right and gave up. Easier? Bah.

If you do succeed Jim, I would appreciate an overview here.

Got it. My setting for REPORTBEHAVIOR was 80 (VFP default?). The feature works perfectly when I change it to 90.

This also solves my other problem regarding rotating report fields.

Thanks,
Jim
