Hello all,
Here's my dilemma:
I like to ue DVDShrink to compress and burn DVDs. I know it uses Nero's engine for the burning task. I purchased an Asus LightScribe DVD-RW that came bundled with Nero 6.6.1.6f. I installed it on a clean install of WinXPPro SP2. DVDShrink worked fine, LightScribe function of Nero was fine. If it ain't broke, don't fix it right? WRONG!!!
I had a version of Nero 7 that I bought to be compatible w/Vista, on a separate HDD. In Vista, Nero 7 Essentials (OEM) was fine, DVDShrink was fine, but no LightScribe support, even with Ahead's LightScribe plug-in. I abandoned Vista (for now) and returned to my new XP install, in which buth Nero 6 and LightScribe were working fine...until..I upgraded Nero to 7 Essentials OEM. DVDShrink still worked fine, but the LightScribe plug-in did not work with XP either. I did the "Enhanced" install no difference. So, I decided to uninstall 7 and go back to the bundled LightScribe version.
When I try to burn w/ DVDShrink I get the error:
I tried Nero's General-CleanTool.zip after uninstalling both Nero and DVDShrink. There were no registry keys involving "Nero" or "DVDShrink" nor Program Files folders for either. Next, I reinstalled Nero 6.6, then DVDShrink, same error. I see "NEROAPI 7 " in the error text. There is obviously some hook somewhere to Nero7, but I have no clue where to look.
All I want is to return to my drive's bundled version. There is a freestanding LightScribe app but it is poor. Yes I know I can use other burners w/ DVDShrink but my inner geek needs to fix this. Thanks.
Tony
