Using WIN XP Pro. Sound works for CDs, Games, and any other program that uses sound.

When I play a DVD in either PowerDVD or Win Media Player 9 I get picture but no sound. Microsoft has not come up with an answer as yet.

I've reinstalled everything (latest driver for Sound Board, and the two programs) so far nothing has helped. Anybody have any suggestions?

Hmmm...just curious but you said audio CD's play just fine?

If not, then make sure you have an analog cable running from the back of your DVD-ROM drive to your sound card. If you do, then try enabling "Digital CD Audio" which is an option under the properties for the drive in Device Manager.

Good Luck!

I had a similar problem and found the DVD came into the sound card as an AUX channel which was muted. Check to insure that no devices are muted.
