Dvd-Rom won`t read DVD`s

Just did a clean install of xp pro,have a 3 boot system w\ win98se\win2k\xp pro\ the dvd-rom drive wont read a dvd movie or a data dvd but will in 2k and 98,whats up its listed as a compaq dvd-rom sr-8587,anybody run into this before

I would suggest that you 1.) deinstall the DVD from the DeviceManager and Reboot... and 2.) see this FAQ faq602-5358, follow it even if your DVD is listed in the Explorer or DM...
