HI

I have a Lite-On dvd-rom, hooked up to a Pentium2 233mhz, it was working fine at first, but now it does not read discs at all, the drive light just flashes 8 to 10 times then stops. This is the same on all types of discs (dvd, cd-r, cd audio etc.) I have tried this drive in a different machine (Pentium 1) and it has the same problem. One thing I noticed before it started doing this was that --sometimes-- it read discs, and --sometimes-- it didn't, before totally stopping.

Hope you can help guys !

when you have a cd in the drive (one with a title and/or icon) does it show in my computer? ie a: would be labelled 3 1/2 floppy drive, and have a picture of a floppy drive.
a cd with quake3 would say quake 3 arena and have the quake3 symbol.

If not you may just have a bad drive.. have you tried swapping it out with a known good one?

what does device manager say as far as dvd/cd drives? does it list them correctly?

Computer Support, no not just hardware.. I support everything :)

Take it back to where you purchased it, if it's still under warranty and get another one. Otherwise just get a new one!

Cheers
