Hi,

I'm having a strange problem with my DVD-drives...

On 1 drive most cds are recognized and they work without a problem. But some disks are simply not recognized. When I enter them, the cursor changes to a CD a couple of times (like it does when it notices a CD was entered), but then it just stops and in windows explorer, the drive seems to be empty.

Now I tried these Cds on another PC, and there they work just fine. What can be the problem here?

The other drive seems to be completely insane. It recognizes nothing. The icon doesn't change when I enter a disk, and in Windows Explorer it tells me there is not disk entered. I have tried uninstalling it, and then Windows recognizes that the Drive is there. So I'm guessing that the drive doesn't have loose cables etc..

I hope someone can help me with this :-)

Are the CDS you are trying to read recorded or originals? As i know for a fact that the internal toshiba laptop (9100 as an example) drives wont read certain cd-r disks. I confronted toshiba about this and they said was something to do with the sensitivity of their lenses and the thickness of the dye on the cd-r, in all fairness they were cheap cds that some user had brought that werent banded.

With regards to the second fault have you tried to use that drive in another machine, if the fault persists then it sounds like a faulty drive.

Hope this helps!

They are recorded disks. But the strange thing is that they are of the same brand as the ones that do work.

A very strange and annoying situation

Yes, all with Nero

It could be that they were different versions, but I don't think that would make much difference, would it?
