My DVD-Rom plays my movies and sound slower than it plays in my DVD player? I'm using the "Power DVD" decoder. What can be done to fix this problem?
When you say DVD player, do you mean the type which you hook up to your TV.
If so, the reason this runs better (and probably always will) is because that is the only task it has to perform. When you play a CD on your PC, you've got to take into account different factors e.g. speed of computer, memory, graphics, sound, background tasks etc. If the hardware is low quality the DVD will poorly shit. If its all good...dunno why it'd run crap.
Well, one major difference is that you are using "software" to decode DVD data from the DVD-ROM drive. Your set-top DVD player hooked up to your TV uses a "hardware" decoder. This is much more efficient, because it's dedicated. Software decoders steal resources from the rest of your system. If you don't have a lot of resources (as thatrenowned mentioned), then it will run slower.
Even though you have the right hardware for the job, that doesn't mean you don't have a lot of crap running in the background using up your resources. Either find a way to increase available resources, or go out and buy a hardware decoder card (check
Have you tried other software decoders? id try a few different players, WinDVD for example! most of them are free to download for a trial period. also itd be helpful to know which VGA card you are using.
