DVD Playback problems

I have an AMD K6-2 400, FIC V503+ MB, 128 meg pc133 ram, Voodoo 3 2000 AGP, Diamond Impact S90, and Creative 5240E-1 5x DVD drive, running Win 98. When I first got the drive, I had no problems at all. The drive came with the Dxr-2 card. I had smooth playback on both TV and monitor. I heard a lot of bad things about the Dxr-2 card and soon started having compatibility problems with DVD's. So I decided to go out and get the RealMagic Hollywood+ MPEG card. When I first installed it, I had smooth playback, but every so often a green line, kinda like the green lines in Matrix, would go across the screen. I figured I could live with that, at least the playback was nice. A few weeks after that, I was having some PC problems and I decided to reformat and Install Windows 2000. I wasn't all too happy with it, and reformatted once again and reinstalled 98. After I did that, I've been having playback problems. The playback and sound jump and pause while watching a movie. I couldn't get rid of this problem. I decided to reformat again just recently, and I'm still having the same exact problem. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The problem It's only with the DVD ?
You have all the upgrades for your system.
Perphaps the problem is in your sound card. Try to upgrade the drivers.
Or you have conflicts with another piece of your equipment.
Or the memory you use in not the right one.
Try to test he memory simply pressing the key "Window" and Key "E" they execute the explorer , open Until the memory is full, if the computer did not hang the memory is good.

you do realize the HollyWood Plus card, is the exact same card as a Creative Dxr3 Decoder card. Also I found that On my Dxr3 DVD Decoder, I would get some freezes from time to time, until I updated windows, try

also on a fresh install you may want to do what arodrigues mentioned, check your DMA and IRQ conflicts, look in Controlpannel->system->DeviceManager

and check the IRQ and DMA of the DVD Decoder card and what not.

I've already updated the drivers for all my devices. Also, kb244, I had the dxr2 card, not the dxr3. From what I've heard, the dxr2 card is pretty bad and they've made huge improvements in the dxr3 card. I have the VIA chipset, notorious for causing IRQ conflicts, but I installed the patch to fix that and I have no conflicts. Like I said, I haven't changed any of my equipment since the reformat, when it worked fine. Something changed in the reformat, I just can't figure out what....

Try to change the program for the DVD to another, like DVD Player or else compatible to your video graphics. Check the properties of the playback program or if you could, try another Video Graphics, perphaps your adapter Voodoo 3 2000 AGP use hardware for the DVD and its incompatible with your dxr3

I know you had the Dxr2, but I am just saying HollyWood Plus, and Dxr3 are the same card, just so you know, it may be possible to even use Creative's drivers on the hollywood plus and it's player (I know it was certainly easy to use Hollywood's drivers and player on my Dxr3)

I have a CreativeLabs Encore 5X DVD with Dxr3, thus far I have had minimal problems with it, there have been rara instances where the audio lagged behind the video, but that had only happened like once in a full moon. Far as the jitters, that was rare but usally got fixed up when I defraged my HDD, or updated something to make the system act a bit more stable. just so you know, I never put any alternative Video card "Right" next to my AGP Video card. If it's a 3dfx PCI, or a DVD Decoder, I make sure it's least 3 or 4 PCI slots away.
