DVD Overlay problem

DVD playback within Win DVD Error Message "Create Overlay Failled" Lower screen resoltution.

I get this error no matter what DVD I try, I can play CD no problem. I tried lowering the res and overlay but nothing.

Any help? I have an HP Compaq 6000 Windows XP.

It stands to reason that with a video problem, it would help to know more about your video card.

What video card are you using and do you have the most recent drivers for it?

Thanks all but the Video card has nothing to do with it. The links sent are appreciated but I finally installed PowerDVD 5 and all is well. There was an obscure reference on the HP site stating that the type of laptop I have that comes with the standard DVD player is a known problem.

That's good to know. I have a dual-boot XP/Server 2003 box and I have the same problem when I boot Server and try to play DVD video.
