I have daul boot, W2k and Xp Home.

In Windows 2000, neither CD Drive will unpack any data. They will read the CD's, but I get an Error 112 whenever I try and install anything from them. In Xp, both read and execute just fine, BUT niether OS will play a DVD. I have tried 3 or 4 different DVD software packages, none auto-play the DVD and double clicking just attempts to load the DVD and gets no where. They just sit and do nothing.

Any ideas?

Have you tried them with any other OS? If they're still broke, I vote with the error and take em back where they come from.

A problem with Windows??? Never...

Yeah, as noted it does ok in XP but does not play DVD. They are pulled from my 2 year old Dell Dimesnion where they worked just fine.
