When I put a cd/dvd in computer, nothing happens. I go to My Computer and there is only: C:drive, D:drive and A:drive. I used to put a cd in and it would then show E: drive. I have a Sony Vaio and I am using XP Home Ed. with 512 ram. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks............

Make sure there isn't a conflict between master and slave on the drive you are installing.

Try running the CD that came with the DVD drive to reload the driver

I put the cd marked "Driver Recovery CD" in the computer and nothing happens.

Hi

Put the driver disk in and try going to start, run and type E:\. See if this gives you access to the CD.

Hope this helps

I think your getting the driver CDs mixed up. Do you have a disk with the Sony Vaio program on it? It may also have the DVD driver on it. Or do you have a CyberLink Power DVD CD or something similiar? These are the CDs with the drivers that you need to reinstall.

If you do only have that "Driver Recovery CD" and what TSSTechie does not work, with the CD in D drive, go to My Computer, click on D Drive and that should show you what is on that CD. From there find the driver for your DVD drive.

TSSTECHIE..thanks. I did what you said and was able to solve the problem.

Oldcomtrguy... I used the Sony cd driver disk and installed the audio and video drivers.

A big thanks from all of you .....this is the best support group on the 'Net !!
