I am using a JVC DVX40 camcorder and Premiere 6.5.
I have never used DV in before and have been trying to set it up.
I have my DV in socket connected to my firewire port.
My cam is in Play mode.
I import a clip onto the timeline.
I press the enter key and the clip starts playing on my LCD and in Premiere.
I am puzzled what the next step is after this.
The user guide I have states: Press the record button in your camera.
If I change from play to record I just record whats in view of the camera.
I would appreciate any help on this.
Thanks
wallie

The next step depends on what you want to do... It sounds like your able to record into premiere...

or is it that you hook it up and hit play and you see it playing but it doesn't go into premiere??

if the second is true, what the manual means by hitting record is to hit the record buttin in premiere, not on the camera...

You hit play on the camera, make sure it is comming up on the screen, then hit record in premiere...

is that a valid answer to your question, I don't know... I've only edited one project with premiere so far:)

What I think what they mean with push the rec button is, the rec button on the camera, but then in Play mode.
So don't set your camera to Rec mode. Leave it in play mode and when you see the clip on your LCD, press the red button (where you normaly will start recording). If i'm right then you will now see, ( in play mode ) that you can record. I hope your still following me, and I hope this helps.

Yes its o/k now, my mistake trying to use the record button on camera.
I leave the camera on Play and press record in Adobe Premiere then its fine.
Thanks a lot

:) enjoy...

Gynoom, he's tring to put the video into the computer... That would work for taking an edited video and bringing it back out to the camera...

good job:)
