When I start Premiere 6.5, it give me saying that it was unable to connect to native Microsoft(TM) DV support. It says it must used a approved Microsoft driver. The following error box says that DV playback performance will be impacted. I can capture from my Canon XL1s just fine and I can edit and export to file the DV clips just fine. I cannot, however, playback through the camera and therefore when I export to tape, Premiere tells the camera to record, but nothing is sent to it.

I have checked, and my drivers are by Microsoft. They are the same drivers that were installed with XP. I have checked the device manager and no other device shares an IRQ with the firewire.

A friend had an older copy of Premiere 6.0 and I installed it, JUST TO TEST, to see how it worked. It was able to capture video and send it back to the camera, but it could not play on my computer. If I unplugged the camera, Premiere 6 couldn't play the DV clips at all. What would happen when I have the camera connected and hit play is that it would play back video and audio on the camera just fine, but I had no audio on my computer and the video was like 2 fps.

Somebody please help me out!! :(

Update:
I have since uninstalled Premiere 6 and 6.5 and installed XP SP1. I then installed Premiere 6 and the 6.02 update from the Adobe website. It was described as fixing problems such as improper playback speeds and jumpy messed up playback. After updating, I get the same error when loading DV settings. "You're not using Microsoft DV drivers...blah blah blah!" I even uninstalled the drivers and let Windows reinstall. There is only one set of drivers on my computer for DV and they are the Microsoft drivers. I just don't get it.

I think I read another post where someone had similar problems. He mentioned he had an Asus motherboard and had been trying to get help from them but with no luck. I have an Asus P4S8X. My board had lots of problems as it was when I first got it and combined with my memory. After updating the Bios and changing the memory timing, my board has performed perfectly. However, I never did anything that had to do with the built on 1394 before. Perhaps that is another problem with the board. Anyone have any ideas?

So uh...no ideas? Anybody?

I FIXED IT! It was a problem with codecs I had installed. I was looking around in the Adobe forums and saw someone mentioned that they uninstalled these KaZaA Lite codecs...I don't get why KaZaA is installing codecs, but that's not the point. The point is that, even though I didn't have KaZaA Lite codecs installed, I did have this all in one codec pack installed. I had heard that the AngelPotion pack had problems so I didn't use it, I used this other pack instead, but as soon as I got rid of it, all the problems went away! The only reason I really needed it anyway was for DivX, so I just went to and downloaded the latest free version. I couldn't get the Free Pro version coz the damn thig has Gain! GRRR! I HATE GAIN!
