I have network divided across multiple Subnets, every subnets has three machines connected to it, machine names on all the Subnets are similar ( suppose Network 1 has M1 M2 M3, and also Network 2 has M1, M2, M3. These networks cannot see each other but they can see One main network where SMS is installed. When I load SMS client on Network1 machine M1 M2 M3, its ok, but when I load SMS client on Network 2. Problem starts and that’s duplicate names problem, is it possible to have DNS or something to do reverse lookup because I cannot change the names of the each site because they are remote sites. Help

Wouldn't it be easiest just to make all the machine names different?

As far as I know, Microsoft requires that all machines on a Client for Microsoft network have different names. There will likely be other cross-network problems than just SMS.

For instance, if you try to get NT Authentication on a machine that shares a Machine Name, it will not let you log on to the network. I believe the error message is: "Duplicate Machine Names Exist"
