I designed a report that our nurses run the evening before surgery to print “cards” that show surgery start time, patient initials, surgeon name, name of operating room and admit type. These cards are helpful in identifying patients that need to be transported. The report is grouped by name of operating room (OR1, OR2, etc.).

Example:

8:30 a.m.
LB
Doe, Jonathan
OR1 Ambulatory

The report has a “details b” (DB) and “details a” (DA) section.
Each section is 5 ¼ inches vertical and the report is printed on 8 ½ x11” paper.
This allows for placement of two cards on one page.
After printing, the nurses cut the page in half to physically separate the cards.

The nurses would like the full patient name displayed on the back of each card. We do have a duplex printer that the nurses have access to.

Am I able to the following and if so, some suggestions please:

Front of card:
8:30 a.m.
LB
Doe, Jonathan
OR1, Ambulatory

Back of Card
Louis Bachrach

Again, there are two cards per 8”x11” page.
I am using CR10.

Hey,

I'm using Crystal 9, but I think the process should be the same. You should be able to do the following

- Right-click on your "Details A" section, and go to "Section Expert"
- Check the option for "New Page After"

Do the same thing for the Details B section. The only issue you might have is if either section runs over 1 page (which would throw the formatting off). To handle that, you could shrink the font size, or expand the field widths.

HTH,

Thank you very much Doc Tree.
I am almost there and perhaps I need to play with the font size a bit more.

To further clarify, I am tryng to get the following output on one page:

Front of page (8.5 x11)

8:30
AB
Doe, John
OR1 Ambulatory

10:00
CD
Smith, Bill
OR1 Same Day

Back of page (8.5" x 11")

Can you clarify please? I don't see how these two records could appear in a detail_a and detail_b section, since the a and b sections are displayed per record, i.e., only fields from the same record would appear in both detail_a and detail_b sections. Are you instead saying that two detail records appear per page?

Two detailed (and different) records appear per page.

Data element field names are exactly the same in each detail (detail_a and detail-b) section.

I am using the following (within x-2) under section expert for both detail_a and detail-b:

Remainder(RecordNumber,2)<>0

I have also checked the box "keep together" in both the detail_a and detail-b section expert.
