DUN not installed and won't install

NT 4.0 Workstation using US Robotics 56K Modem that works with three other programs that use it to dial out.

When trying to setup the ATT/IBM Global Network Dialer, the program keeps telling me that the DUN isn't installed.

When I go to Start\Programs\Accessories and click on Dial-Up Networking, nothing happens. All attempts to install fail. RAS is setup to use the modem and works without any problems.

Any ideas?

Sounds like a problem with the OS or program not hardware. There are forums here that can help you with the software.

scan for virus/spy/malware/dialer.

Thanks for the input guys. I do believe the problem is software related. All scans have come back clean, so I guess I'll keep looking.

Try installing Hyper Terminal if it's necessary for that service.
also recheck the requirements (components necessary) for that ATT stuff- may require other

check Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > Windows Setup tab > Connections [Details] > Dial Up Networking
to see if it's installed
...it might use a diff protocol component (or it's own TCP/IP or other) in the Network Applet in Control Panel. Might even need the Client for MS Networks to use.

The 3 others may not be using DUN..such as ISP software which installs it's own Adapters in Network Neighborhood > Properties (Same as Control Panel > Network applet)

BTW - Do you have any connections listed (valid) in My Computer > DialUp Networking folder?
