I'm using RH9 and RHEL3. The installation of the software is via RPM packages. This is nice and easy. However, I want to reinstall one package because I have found there is an advanced option I want to set. This has to be done at build time.

Is there a way in which I can 'expand' a RPM package back to its base files? I can see I can then (re)create the rpm easily enough and reinstall the software.

Thanks

You need to get the .src.rpm for the package, then unpack it. It should go to /usr/src/rpm/*. It's been a really long time since I've tinkered with building rpms from source though.
