I work at a location that has the majority of computers with dual monitors connected to them. When I go into the display settings and click on the identify button, it shows a big #1. With the resolution set at 1600x600. When you maximize a window it automatically goes across both screens instead of just one. These computers were supplied by the vendor this way.

I now have a another computer that I have added a second monitor to. The computer see the monitor and it is usable but when I click on the identify button, it shows 1 on the left screen and 2 on the right screen.

My question is: Does anyone know how I can set up this computer's monitors the same way it was initially setup by the vendor. I have tried several settings and have not been successful.

Thanks for any anticipated help.

That will depend on the Graphics card it has, but usally there is a "Extend my Windows Desktop to this monitor" checkbox you can check, in the Display Settings dialog box.

If that doesn't work Graphics cards drivers usually have a proprietary control panel for the card where you can change it so it extends the desktop to the other monitor. It is usually found When you click the Advanced button in the Display Settings dialog box.

Without knowing the mkae of the graphics card this is all i can tell you right now
Hope this helps.

Should have included that in the initial posting. Sorry. The graphics card is an nVidia Quadro NVS

O.k. most Nvidia's have a Control Panel for NView. which is thwe software that controls the dual display and clonsing display features of the card.

To get there right click on any empty area on the desktop and select properties, then select Settings. If it picks up both monitors, then just select the second monitor on the picture and then check the checkbox that says "Extend my deskopt to this monitor" click on apply and it should stretch it.

If that doesnt work.
Click on the Advanced button and then on the NView tab.

You should then find the options there to extend the desktop.
