Dual connection with NWClient 4.90 sp1?

Can anyone answer this one? Since upgrading to NWClient 4.90 sp1, I am seeing 2 connections for this computer on the Novell server's connection list, but when I query the computer via the red N (then Netware connections), it only ever shows 1 connection. It then seems to switch between the two connections without my knowledge. I've just had MS Excel tell me that it can't find the F drive and had to save a file to my local drive instead of the server. Using explorer in Win XP, the F drive is there so I don't know what's going on.

Is there a way to prevent the novell client from securing 2 connections on the server?

Thanks,
Dan

From what I understand, this is more of a Server problem related to NLS. Can you give some info on your NetWare servers?

Also, you should set these on your server.. they will probably correct your excel issues.

SET CLIENT FILE CACHING ENABLED=OFF
SET LEVEL 2 OPLOCKS ENABLED=OFF

Hi,

We are seeing "similiar problems.

We are having users intermittently report that when they save to a network drive- they receive a message disk full or
too may files open.

This is only happening to about 4 of the 20 machines that had the same image with Windows XP, Novell Client 4.90 sp1.

We tried uninstall 4.90sp1a, reinstallng 4.90sp1 with file caching off, then on. However it seems to still be occuring.

I have Novell Netware 4.10 running with service pack 6 on a single server.

I will try those settings a little later this week. I presume they get set in the autoexec.ncf file.

Thanks for the info,

Dan

they arent relevant on 4.1

the excel issue is normally from the nwfs. i havent seen this issue lately but the few xp machines we have have 4.83 sp2 /3 on them.

Dbrew0, the assumption was made that since you posted in a NetWare 6 forum that you were using NetWare 6.x, not 4.10. There is a separate 4.10 forum that may be more appropriate.
