Can someone tell me the "least painful" way of doing this, or even if it's doable? I have one HDD that has NT4 Server on it. I have another HDD with NT4 Workstation. I would like to be able to boot up to the drive I need to use at the time. I also REALLY don't want to lose anything on either drive!. Is there any way of making this setup as a dual boot system? Do they make a switch for ide cables so that it would boot on whichever it's switched too??? Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated!

Haven't actually tried this myself with two hard drives, only with two or more partitions, but no reason why it shouldn't work. Install MASTERBOOTER boot manager - this should give you a menu after POST which should enable either drive, or a partition to be selected to boot from. There used to be a working sample version with limited facilities, or you could buy full version for $20.

Not too sure how, but I was under the impression you could create an additional entry in BOOT.INI and boot it that way?? -----------------------------------------------------
"It's true, its damn true!"

I thought you could edit the Boot.ini file too.
Here is a copy of my Workstation one:

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Windows NT Workstation Version 4.00"
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Windows NT Workstation Version 4.00 [VGA mode]" /basevideo /sos

If you were to add/edit this that you have:

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Windows NT Workstation Version 4.00"
multi(0)disk(1)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Windows NT Server Version 4.00"
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Windows NT Workstation Version 4.00 [VGA mode]" /basevideo /sos
multi(0)disk(1)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Windows NT Server Version 4.00 [VGA mode]" /basevideo /sos

Then you should be able to select the Server option and have it boot from Disk (1) Partition (1). Would this not work?

Well, that would just be too simple!! LOL...It's going to be a few days before I'm ready to set it up, but I'll find out then. It seems like that would also work if the other HDD was Win98 also..or whatever..mmm...
Thanks for the help!
