DTS Succeed or Fail from DOS Bat

DTS supports execution of a DOS command, which can be a DOS batch file. Does anyone have any idea how the batch file can indicate to DTS whether it succeeded or failed?

My environment is SQL 7.0 (SP3) / NT 4.0 (SP6) / Intel.
