We have an Option 81 and would like to know if it's possible to use DTMF routing to connect to a Brooktrout TR114 loopstart board on our fax server. If it is possible, how would we go about it?

yes, i would interface to the fax server with loop start analog trunks, that will look like an analog phone to the fax server, then you'll need to send the calls through your dial 9 (ac1) or use ac2 to send calls to the route, you can insert or delete digits depending on the digits dialed, if you can post the requirements of your fax server and the source dialed digits of your inbound faxes, i will give you the loads and options you have. this is a very normal function to this switch, you'll find most techs don't like to play with routing and when you mention server most of us get lost..

We currently have 4 analog lines from the PBX to the fax board in our fax server. This works well for outbound faxing but we do not use this for inbound (yet). We have hundreds of DIDs and would like to be able to send the last 4 digits of an inbound call to the fax board using DTMF. The fax board can be configured to accept 4 digits as a routing code and whatever tone prompt and duration needed.
I will forward your information to our tech which should get him going in the right direction.

Thanks John

We do quite a bit of inbound faxing, albeit with a T-1.

However if the trunks are already connected to your PBX, you just need to create an RLI that contains the RDB of your faxing trunk. To get the DID's to the fax server, just create a CDP entry that sends the DID to the RLI for the fax trunk.

correct on the above post, another way is to create a idc table to look for the dids and insert the acod for the fax trunks.. dsc will do the same thing, the new rlb seems very simple, if your tech is not confortable with that a new acd with the did dn as the acd dn and a ncfw to the route acod+ any four digits will do the same thing, the trunks will in any cause need to be either tie or did's in and out with dtn and thfd (hook flash denied) in the class... some fax servers do drop loop current for 500 mills between anaswer supervision and switching, the 81 can see that as a flash timer and wait for digits, as in transfer started and not complete...

Hi: I have created the senario of forwarding the dn to an acod of route, placed a trunk in route as did. The fax server will only answer on did card the last 4 digits are sent through and routed appropriatly. Does any one know how to get the fax server loop start card to answer. The did card works great.

try making the route auto=yes and the atdn on the trunk the 4 digits you need/..

We have the PBX sending 4 digits to the fax board but the issue now appears to be timing. The 4 tones are delivered before the fax board has time to answer. Is there any way to have the PBX issue a pause or delay before the 4 digits are sent to the fax board??

might play with start type on the trunks, delay start is a adjustable timer
