I have two MICS 7.0 networked together using 26 POTS lines. I noticed that it was taking a long time for the calls to start ringing when a call was dialed out, even local calls.

I placed a test set on one of the lines and dialed a number. I hear that only after a few digits are dialing from the set that the line is picked up and then the number is DTMF'd out. No problem with that, but is there any way to increase the speed at which the dialing is done.

I used to work on another PBX years ago and we called this INTER DIGIT DIALING DELAY. It was timed in milliseconds and was there because at that time in the 80's there were still a lot of slower CO's that needed the DTMF slowed down because they could not "hear" if the DTMF was toning to fast.

Now I have listened to other switches and they are sending DTMF with lighting speed.

Anyway to adjust the DTMF inter-digit timing on MICS?

No, the DTMF from the digital sets is sent by the Line card, the standard is 80 - 100 ms.

Inter digit is a timer that the system waits for, thinks you are done dialing and sends does digits.

Your dialing delay is due to the system checking the digits dialed for destination code match. Only once a match is found does the system begin dialing. Because you networked systems, your dest codes are 3 or 4 digits long and it could take some time.
