I have a csu/dsu wic plugged into a DSX and the protocol is down. Question what is a DSX?

I've never heard of a DSX WIC. Are you sure it's not a WIC-1DSU-T1?
DSx usually refers to ciruits in the DS hierarchy. For example, a T1 is basically the same as a DS1, and a T3 is basically the same as a DS3. There is a technical distinction between them but the terms are generally interchangeable.
