DSL without active phone line? 4

I'm trying to consolidate cell phones, normal lan phone line, & broadband services at home. I would like to drop my normal lan phone line and only use our cell phones, plus retain our DSL boardband connection. Is this possible? Or does DSL require an active lan phone line running into the house?

If DSL requires an active lan line then I'm thinking about switching over to cable broadband. Has anyone done this?

TIA,

Woody

ADSL requires a phone line. Most data CLEC's can provision SDSL on a 'dedicated' pair. (At least, that is how our Covad provided DSL circuit is.)

most CableCos don't require a phone line - they'll install broadband on it's own (in the UK at least....don't know enough about how it works abroad)

<marc> i wonder what will happen if i press this...[pc][ul][li]please give feedback on what works / what doesn't[/li][li]need some help? how to get a better answer: faq581-3339[/li][/ul]

Thanks for all of the input, I'm really happy with the quick turn around time on your posts.

Looks like I'll be switching to cable broadband once my dsl contract expires.

Regards,

Woody
