I am under the assumption that DSL modems require DSL servers to operate correctly..

My question:
Will a DSL modem support regular modem connections, from a regular ISP?

rstr@spacemail.com

A DSL modem must connect to another DSL modem. It is a fully digital link as opposed to the analog link you get with regular modems. In fact, DSL modems are not interchangeable either, You usually need to buy the modem from your provider.
Jeff
masterracker@hotmail.com

Of all the things I've lost in life, I miss my mind the most ...

thats right dsl modems will not work on a dail up isp . All dsl modems need to be hooked up to a DSLAM witch is located in a central office . The modems have alcatel
chips inside that equals 256 modems therefore that is why the speeds are what they are .
J.
