Hi,

I currently have a Windows 2000 server setup as the primary domain controller with ADS, and DNS installed. I have two NIC cards in the server, and DHCP is also running.

I have connected the DSL modem to one of the NIC's and tried sharing the connection, and it is not working. In order to use the DSL modem from SBC Yahoo I had to install a PPOE adapter and some software from Yahoo. Currently in Network components I have three adapters showing: The internal NIC, NIC for external and the PPOE adapter. If I disable or delete DHCP services, and then setup connection sharing the internal nic is given the address 192.168.0.1, the external nic is given 169.254.95.209, and the PPOE adapter is auto-assigned an address from the ISP. Clients on my network are assigned IP addresses but they are not able to connect to the internet. Additionally they are not able to see the domain controller through DNS name.

I have tried tons of different things, and am stuck. Basically I want to share the connection. Can anybody help. Thanks

Here's what I've done. Cable modem coming in to wireless router. Wireless router goes to nic. Nic address is cloned on the router so everything looks like the one nic. Using strict dhcp. Everybody else using dhcp to connect to the internet via the router. Took a while to figure out what I was doing wrong, (Had to clone the mac address) but now everyone is on the internet, using 192.168.2.x addresses. The 169.254.x.x is being assigned by apipa which is what MS uses when a nic isn't recieving an address from somewhere else that should be giving it. Basically, when you see 169.254.x.x, you know you've got problems. Good luck.
