Will this cause problems or speed issues within my DSL?

A little knowledge is dangerous.

No speed issues. FAX should have a low pass filter.

I agree - this is the same setup I am using at our church building. I even went so far as to put an extension in the data closet that uses the fax line for voice if I need it, but be sure to use the filter. Be sure to properly protect all the devices for surge - it's a big problem with lightning here in Florida.

There is a splitter at the entrance of my house. One side is the DSL, the other side is the telephone and fax.

That is the best way to do it, really... .have the filter right at the dmarc, with the DSL home-runned to the DSL modem. The rest of the lines can go into the filter, with never a fear of blowing something up from accidently plugging it into the higher-voltage DSL line.
