I have been getting some complaints from our switch board for a while now about dropped calls. It seems that someone will call in and then get disconnected. Some even said it happened to them 3 times in a row. Then they ask the operator why they hung up on them?

At first I had our CO monitor our PRI’s and look for problems there. They told me it could be trunking between CO’s coming into us that was causing the problems and they didn’t see any problems on our end. I even had someone in-house complain they were hung up on this morning.

It seems this is still going on and now I am wondering if this is something to CM 3.0.1.

I looked through the Avaya site at the Product correction notices and didn’t see anything like our problem. I did see several that mentioned problems between sites (we have 1) and of course all the IP trunking problems (we have none).

Has anyone else had this problem and is their a patch to fix this?? Any help getting this resolved is appreciated.

We were finally able to resolve this yesterday. I have never seen anything like this so I thought I would post incase you ever run into the same thing.

These dropped calls were happening during peak traffic times and seemed that the operators were the only ones getting these calls. I was fairly sure it had something to do with the queue at the attendants. Yesterday around 1:00 in the evening I was bombed with calls with no talk path. In fact some were hitting announcements and major cross talk as a kicker. I got a warning in on the TDM-BUS and the announcement pack (04d20) went out of service. I did get a warning in on 04d17 DS1 pack. This ended up being a DS1 board that started out with 1 or 2 bad channels. Yesterday the whole pack and 24 trunks went in to cross talk and even bled into the TDM bus and were sending calls to the announcement pack the E carrier in this cabinet.

Apparently the calls were coming into this pack after the first 80 trunks were busy ahead of it and then the calls rolled into it.

Hard way to find and fix an ongoing problem in the middle of the day here, but it is fixed now.

Just thought I would let you all know.
