Just installed OpenServer 5.0.4 on an IBM Aptiva. Want to use a USRobotics 56k Sportster Faxmodem with x2; no driver on OS? Also unable to get parallel port to work; create with interrupt 7, addr 3bc - 3bf (these reported by win95 on same machine); mkdev seems to work (port is reported at boot although ending addr reported as 3be), but redirection to port (date > /dev/lp0) doesn't work??
Under the gun, any help appreciated.
I assume that you're trying to configure a printer. Have you tried using the PRINTER MANAGER or the PARALLEL PORT manager from the HARDWARE/KERNEL MANAGER from SCOADMIN?
Re the modem, I don't think you'll need a specific driver. As long as it's Hayes compatible, it should work OK. Look for similar USR modem types when you're configuring it, and choose one that's a close match. Sorry, can't be more specific because I've never had the "pleasure" of setting up PPP on SCO. (I assume this is what you're trying to do?)
