hey why when i double click the NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-4363.run does nothing happen ?

Note: Im using Mandrake 9.1
And im a n00b!! lol

What are you doing?

The command is:

sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-4363.run

You can't have X running when installing the driver. You should also have your run level to text login. Then make the changes to your XF86Config-4 (I use Vi) then init5 or changes your run level back and startx.

It is a good idea to keep a text-based login. It makes it easier to troubleshoot problems with X if they occur.

Yeah i got to the install part im just having problems getting X to exit i did Ctrl Alt F1 and went to root but it didnt work :/

You have to do the editing before you start X. I suggest using Vi. Use PICO or Vi, make the changes, then your good.

I got the driver in at last doing this.

1) Opend Konsole and typed xtrem *i know i can go to this though the menus*
2) typed init 3 to get into the console and unload X
3) Ran the file *sh filename.run*
4) After install was done ran init 6 to reboot

All seems to work then again there is no real diference but i know i need to edit the x86Free file or something but the file i got hasnt got the command line to change that it should so the main file that nvidia says in the readme is no use to me lol but as long as i can find the 2ndry file it says is in the system i think it will be ok
