Hi gang,

I was wondering where Windows 98 stores its drivers. Are they all in one folder, or are they spread out in different places on the hard drive. Thanks.

Drew

Howdy:

Most are in the .cab folders but, once installed, they become .drv, .inf, .vxd and a couple other files.

Thanks, Murray, but do you know where they are stored in Windows 98, xp and 2000? I'm wondering so that if I ever have to use safe mode to go through drivers, I'll know where to go to load them one at a time. Know what I mean?

Drew

On Win2k they are located usually in the Winnt/system32 or Winnt/system32/drivers.

On 98 and XP they are located under Windows/system32/drivers.

sunspore:

Click on the following link and there is a free program that will back up all drivers currently in use on your system. If you have a burner you could burn the results to a disk and have it available if you ever need it.

You guys just rock, plain and simple.
