Another simple question I'm sure. Can you access a network drive using the DriveListBox tool? I have set it on a form and noticed that the network drive is not listed. Only the local and dvd drive are listed.

Is there a means to use the DriveListBox tool to locate a network drive or must I use the Common Dialog Control?

Thanks,
Eddy

I just put the DriveListBox on my Form and I have all other drives: c. d. and the network e. v, etc.

Have fun.

You will probably find that the network drives will be included if you first go to My Computer and connect to(Explore them) them first, initially you will probably see them listed as 'Disconnected network drive's. Firing up a VB Drive list box appears to be an insufficient prompt for Windows to try and make a connection if one is not already in use.

Such stuff (connection) may happen automatically when you start your computer if your network is hard wired, the connection to the network then occurs before you log in to your user account. If you are using a wireless network however your wireless connection may occur only after you have logged in (and after Windows checks to see if it connected to a network) and you may not actually have a confirmed connection until you go browse with Explorer. If you are using a wireless network opting to 'let Windows handle your wireless connections' will often help because wireless networking is then provided by a service which gets the wireless networking working before you log on.

I believe it will only show network drives that you have mapped. I've never gotten it to do ones that I haven't mapped, at least.
