I have two grouped by the "phase" and then by "product" which fall under the "phase"

I would like to either the phase or the product to be able to be drilled down. Meaning if I double click on the either the Phse or Product name it will supress or show that data listed under that grouping.

Currently it displays as follows...

Approved (Phase) group 1
xxx (product name) group 2
Data associated with each Product name

What i would like to have happen is when I double click on either product or phase.

If product, display ...
Approved (Phase) group 1
xxx (product name) group 2

Not showing the data associated with it.

If you double click Phase ...
Approved (Phase) group 1

Not showing either the Product or data associated with this pahse.

Currently when I double click on either it opens a new view on the same Crystal report.

If I click Phase... New view shows ...
Specific - Approved (Phase) group 1
xxx (product name) group 2
Data associated with each Product name

If I click Product ...
New view shows...
xxx (product name) group 2
Data associated with each Product name

This almost looks like a "drill-up", since you apparently want the detail to disappear. You could achieve this by formatting the detail section to suppress using:

drilldowngrouplevel >= 1

Format the product group header with:

drilldowngrouplevel = 1

Go into file->report options and check "show all group headers on drilldown".

When you drilldown this will still open in a new window, and to return to the full display, would have to click on the original report tab--in other words you couldn't double click to return to the full display.

I'm assuming you are NOT using CR 2008--I'm not sure what it's capacity is in this regard.

Sounds like you are looking showing/hiding detail within the main view rather than opening new drilldown tabs. I believe the only option for this is using a 3rd-party Crystal report viewer (see list at
You can see a 1-minute video of how my DataLink Viewer supports this type of In-Place DrillDown functionality at:
