I have found that when i have created an editable region, that i am unable to place layers within this area, can it be done?

Thanking you if anyone could tell me the answer.

Are we talking Templates?

I don't really know the answer. But can I make a suggestion? Why don't you try using an 'include' function.
I can't speak for anyone else, but I found that templates were a real hassle. And created more frustration than anything else.

If your header, footer and navbar are the same on every page then an 'include' function will give you similar results.

I agree templates are a REAL hassle

I am a big fan of SSI as opposed to templates. SSI is much quicker to apply to a large site, also. When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.
