We have a little problem here. I was recording our VJ last night. (6.5 hours) It saved it just fine. When I went in this morning to put it in the timeline to cut it up in to 2 hours stretches so I can make Happy Hour DVD out of it. I can drag it to the TimeLine but it will not show up.

The file is almost 195gig. We have no problem pulling in and editing a 26gig file (2hr 15min).

A little information on the system we use.

P4 2gig
1gig ram
2 200gig WD hard drives
DV500 Input card
We pull in the Video and audio from the MX-50 and the Sprite Sound board.

Any help would be helpful.

Thanks

Doug

What HD is is it saved on? If the file is already 195 GB, you only have 5gb to work with of free space if its a truly "empty" 200 gb drive.

You simply do NOT have working space (Premiere requires at least 2 - 3 GB of FREE working space if you are working for DVD )

Youre best bet is to cut up the AVI into segments using a splicer program

has some tools/programs that can ease the problem.

I've been working on this so long I didn't think about that.

Thank you

More relevant is the 3 hour timeline maximum in Premiere 5 and up. The programnme will not handle 6.5 hour files.
