I have an XP Pro user how has a couple of weird problems which i've been unable to find a solution to.

firstly they cannot drag and drop any files with their mouse.

second, when they click a link in internet explorer which should open in a new window the new window is blank.

I've tried checking the security settings in internet explorer, these are fine. i've re-installed IE and the mouse drivers.

has anyone come across these before as i'm tearing my hair out!!

thanks

Drag and drop problem is the WORM!!!
1. Remove the worm with an updated AV. If you don't have any, download a free worm cleaning tool from symantec:
2. Update your windows with microsoft site. If update fails, try again later. The worm causes any coputer in the world that runs windows to attack windows update site.

good luck...

As for your second problem, IE is messed up. Open a command prompt and type this:
regsvr32 urlmon.dll
You should get a popup saying it was successfully registered.

thanks for your advice guys but none of these solutions had worked :-(

Have you done a good anti-virus scan lately?

Try an online scan. Go here for some sites:
Also, be sure to look in the Browser Forum in this site. There is a thread about Windows failing to open new windows on the first page that likely has an answer for you somewhere. forum608
