Hi,

Can I downgrade from a 8 Port Voicemail Pro to 2 4 Port Voicemail Pro server?

I would like to setup two seperate Voicemail Pro Server becuase they are located on different sites.

You cannot tranfer single licenses from one dongle to another, only the whole lot at once. If you want a second VM, you will need to buy it from scratch.

Do you have any links between sites???? If so, SCN the 2 together and use Centralised VM.

Yeppo as Jamie says. No doubt your VM is built from the base 4 ports and an additional 4 ports.

If located on seperate sites just link them with a decent 1:1 circuit and have a centralised VM, least that way you still have your 8 ports, and still have 2 sites with vm. With the benefits of internal dialling :)

We are currently using SCN. But our VPN T1 has gone down and we lost connection. I wanted to decentralized the Voicemail Pro Server.

If I do, would I lose all SCN feature?

It is not supported and WILL cause issues if you have more than one VM Pro in an SCN environment.

To have 1+ VM Servers turn off Voice Networking on your IP Lines and create short codes for inter site dialling.

Is this a permanent thing or a temp work around?? Correct me if I am wrong but if your PTP link has gone down then SCN has gone with it?????

Yes

Our PTP went down and we lost our SCN plus Voicemail.

Can we setup a backup Voicemail Pro server?

You could have another VM setup and ready to go on site 2 as a backup plan. I wouldn't run it all the time. It would only run for that site. You would need a license on that site for the VM Pro.

If the link goes down, dial in and change the VM to go to local instead of centralised.

When the PTP comes back, go back to centralised.

If you could have a backup schedule on Site B to have a copy of the Voicemail folder from site A you could even recover your mailboxes, greeting etc. A backup of the config imported onto the backup VM would get site B running.

I would only use this as a backup, not normal use.

You cannot split those two lics because one is a base and the other is an additional four ports.

The additional will not work without the base.
